We bring together an A&E doctor and a visual artist in this special workshop and you will be reflecting on your body like never before! We first examine the workings of our circulatory system scientifically, until our imagination takes over and we use the circulatory system as a metaphor to look at the wider world that we dwell in. Through mindfulness training, both adults and young people can concentrate better, and also learn techniques that will enable them to relax and sleep better so that they can be more alert and less tired during the day.

“I had the distinct impression that it was run by some real experts who had been actively involved in their forms of art. They gave us breadth, depth and insight in the subjects. Although I had firsthand experience in the fields before joining the course, at the end I felt I had a much better command of the entire specialties. I learned to write critiques that should give the readers new insights into a show or performance. No wonder some course-mates opted for more subjects to learn despite having to pay extra.
The course was highly educational and of great value for money.”
Lam Kui-chun, Certificate in Arts Criticism Student
“The Arts Criticism programme is absolutely fantastic. In one programme, I have access to the best teachers in six arts disciplines, their passion for the arts as admirable as their scholarship. I enjoy the company of my classmates because we are there for the same reason. The small-size class allows for excellent communication among teachers and students which is ideal for learning. Considering the importance of the arts for the sustainable growth of Hong Kong and the dire need for arts critics, it stands to reason that the programme be offered as a signature arts programme with articulation to more advanced levels for each discipline.
I am grateful to AFTEC for offering Hong Kong’s first ever Arts Criticism programme.”

]]>In our noisy and hectic world, reconnect our basic senses through an experiential journey of sound-scapes, tactile-scapes and written expressions.
The Living Arts Series, now in its 4th season, aimed to connect the public to the arts through understanding how much the arts are already a part of our lives. From November 15-18 2012, we re-created the space in the Cultural Activities Hall of the Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre into an experiential hour of sound-scapes, tactile-scapes and written expressions.
Touch it:
Explore the surfaces of a great range of textures and objects with hands.
Hear it:
Listen to sounds emitted from around the venue and absorb what is on offer.
Express it:
Express their imaginative encounters with objects, materials and sounds through writing.
As participants touch, listen and write, they are asked to reflect on questions about learning: what and how are you learning?
Panel Discussion on Theatre & Learning
On November 17 2012, there was a special panel convened within the space for an open discussion on Theatre & Education using the Urban/Jungle Journey experiential project as the springboard. Led by Vincent Wong, the dialogue with invited guests from different walks of life reviewed arts learning as it is and plot different approaches forward.

– First Visually Impaired Teacher in Hong Kong
Gukzik Lau
– Local Renowned Visual Artist
